Hi I'm Nicola. I'm passionate about helping women to feel vibrantly alive in their 40s and beyond. As a Women's Health Coach, I love to see women embrace their health and fitness. I was something of a late bloomer when it came to my own interest in fitness so I can wholeheartedly empathise if it's new territory to you too!
Allow me to start at the beginning...
I wasn't a sporty kid. I was the one who couldn't catch a ball and always got picked last for the team! I subsequently turned to studying to find my purpose.
After graduating from University in my early twenties I went through a difficult time - I had been so determined to get a 1st in my degree that I'd spent every day sat at my desk writing my dissertation, turning to unhealthy food as a comfort, and making no time to do any exercise. I felt totally unattractive, depressed, had no energy and weighed more than I had ever weighed before. I was also diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and advised that I should lose weight. Lacking the confidence to attend a gym or an exercise class, I subsequently tried a Pilates DVD as a way to 'get in shape' and soon began to absolutely love the way it made me feel.
Unfortunately my relationship with food changed for the worse - I became increasingly obsessed with losing weight and was eventually diagnosed with anorexia...
Drastically underweight, I was terrified, exhausted and felt very alone. With support, and the determination to get better, I began the long journey back towards health. I became much more mindful about eating nutritious foods to nourish and strengthen my body, and of the enormous benefits - both physically and mentally - which I gained from Pilates and other forms of exercise.
Meanwhile, I was working in demanding Personal Assistant and Managerial roles. As I climbed the career ladder I found myself increasingly stressed. In 2013 I made the decision to dramatically change my career path. I left my job to train as a Pilates Teacher. That decision was driven by the knowledge that I had used Pilates to maintain the mental and physical balance required to improve my health and to excel in a demanding working environment. I established a successful business in Manchester, teaching Pilates in private studios, Physiotherapy Practices, a men's prison, and in client's homes...
In 2015, I temporarily 'lost my way' in the name of love; I gave up my business, my home and my life, and moved to Andover. I returned to a full time office job, had a 4 hour daily commute in to and out of London and had no time whatsoever for my Pilates. I soon realised that I was in the wrong relationship, the wrong job, and living the wrong life! So I made the decision to leave everything behind and follow my instincts...
I decided to do what I had only previously dreamed of and moved to Bali to train as a Yoga Teacher! This then paved the way for me to travel the world, teaching Yoga and Pilates in luxury resorts in Bali and Malaysia, a British Military Compound in West Africa (where I got to know the man who is now my husband), and in one of the The Times 20 Best Yoga Retreats in the World. I finally felt happier, healthier and fitter than ever before.
I subsequently decided to develop my skills further in 2016 by training as a Master Personal Training, Fitness & Nutrition Coach with the prestigious European Institute of Fitness. In early 2017 I also graduated as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach after my year long training with The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. This course cemented my passion for good nutrition, balanced healthy cooking, and my belief in the importance of an holistic approach to health. My partner Craig and I bought our first house together in South Oxfordshire and I was able to spend the next 5 years growing a thriving business. I was fortunate enough to take my business online during the pandemic, and returned to working in person when things opened up again.
Fast forward to April 2022, Craig and I got married and promptly tested positive for Covid the following day (along with half the wedding party)! Over the two months that followed I found that my body simply wasn't able to return to physical exercise. My legs gave way for no apparent reason and I was constantly tired and dizzy. After several blood tests and visits to the doctor, I reluctantly accepted a diagnosis of Long Covid. I had to stop working and face the reality that I may not be able to work in the same capacity again. Rather than being defeated by this, I took the opportunity to return to studying and equip myself with the knowledge required to specialise in working with peri- and post- menopausal women. Craig and I also made the decision to move back up north. I jumped head first in to studying and decided to create a new business - 'Vibrantly Alive' - aimed exclusively at empowering women over 40 to feel vibrantly alive again.
It is with huge gratitude that I now find myself at the dawn of this new venture. I am incredibly excited to combine and share my greatest passions: women's wellness, healthy cooking, nutrition, strength training, Pilates, Yoga and meditation.

Nicola is a wonderful, highly experienced and professional Personal Trainer. She has a wealth of knowledge and tools which she uses with great skill and flexibility to help her clients not only achieve their fitness goals but also to maintain them. When I started out with Nicola, I was not sure which form of exercise I wished to use in order to achieve my goals, so Nicola recommended that I try a different form in each session (Pilates, Yoga, Resistance training with own body, kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX, boxing, HIIT, running etc). I surprised myself by liking those tools which I had previously disliked, all because they were presented in such a fun way and results were obtained so much more rapidly. I really enjoy resistance training, HIIT, and running!
She tailor makes each session, adapting to whatever the client’s needs or present capability. Her empathy, highly tuned listening skills, humour, and gentle yet firm support, ensure that her sessions are not only fun but successful too. She knows how and when to push you in such a way so that you come out feeling so much more strong and energized than when you went in.

When my friends and colleagues ask me what health coaching is, I describe it as someone who helps me to implement some things I already know, and introduce me to new ways of thinking and living.
